Do You Promote Your Old Posts?

If not, you should. When I first started blogging I didn’t have any readers. Occasionally someone would happen by but for the first several months no one knew about my blog because I didn’t know anything about promoting my blog. It was a good year or more before I had a healthy readership. Which means I have a year’s worth of articles that no one has seen and when I hit the wall, or become to busy I can either link to a post on the front page of my blog and/or I can promote the old posts on Twitter or Stumble and get new traffic.

I love going back to old posts. Sometimes I have no recollection of writing the pieces and sometimes they are so bad I want to delete them. I don’t because they are part of my evolution as a writer and I like to see how far I have come. Other times I will find an old post that is pretty good and it’s nice to see that even back then I could write.

I suggest you dig back into your archives, find a few posts that you think were good and then promote them either through a link post on the front page or simply by Stumbling or Tweeting them. Your readers will appreciate seeing the old stuff and you never know, you might find a good post that with a little bit of tweaking could be a great post.

Friday Blog Challenge: Stop Annoying Your Readers

Yesterday I wrote an article on my personal blog titled I Hate Comment Auto Responders, it was a tongue in cheek piece about the new trend in using auto responders to thank your commenters for leaving a comment. Spotlight of the Week on The Mind of Spaz

The Mind of Spaz is one of those blogs that can’t really be categorized, nicheless in other words. If pressed it is a humor blog, and a damn funny one, but it can’t be categorized. A little redundant? I know, I’m still having trouble writing. Sue me. Back to Spaz. Spaz talks about anything and [...]
